Our first priority is the health and wellbeing of our customers, retailers and staff. In line with the latest government advice, we have a social distancing etiquette in place at our centre. Please click here for details. Thank you for your consideration, patience and understanding in helping to keep us all safe.
Please note that our 'down' travelator will be closed for engineering work from Monday 17th to Friday 21st May inclusive. The 'up' travelator and lifts will still be fully operational for access to/from the car park.
Representatives (human and canine) from our popular visitors Bristol DAWG will back in-centre on 25th and 26th June. They are looking forward to interacting with as many humans as possible! You can meet the team between 10am and 3pm.
Bristol DAWG rescue Greyhounds and Lurchers. They first opened their doors in 2009 and moved into their own Rescue Centre in January 2020. The Charity has four trustees, who are all totally dedicated to the dogs in their care whilst they are waiting for their new forever home. There is also a very loyal group of volunteers and, together, they try to help as many dogs as possible. Fundraising is, of course, vital to the success of the charity.
Bristol DAWG normally accommodates about 15 dogs at any one time (it has been as high as 25 with the use of foster families) and say: 'we are only a small Charity, but we feel we make a big difference'. They take dogs from both the UK and Ireland - where there are huge welfare problems in the racing industry, it is said 10,000 greyhounds go “missing” in Ireland every year. These are generally dogs which are not fast enough to race or are injured. They also take dogs from the local Dog Wardens in South Gloucestershire and North Somerset - these are generally strays.
They have had many sad cases of cruelty, which is always hard to deal with but they try and help as many cruelty cases as possible within their financial constraints.
If you would like to find out more about the charity, discuss providing a home for a rescue dog, or just see how you can support them, please visit the team for a chat.
