Poetry in Public

Poetry in Public

Clifton Down Shopping Centre are pleased to be promoting a fantastic new poetry project, featuring an installation of James McInerney’s popular and thought-provoking poems in-centre, a first for Bristol!

James is a Northampton poet and author of five books. His ‘Poetry in Public’ project aims to get poetry out into places where you wouldn’t normally find it and open people’s eyes to the joys and healing powers it can offer. This initiative has already been successfully run across multiple stations on the London Underground where the poetry was displayed on service boards and it is now being expanded into other public places such as shopping centres, airports, parks, schools et al. Responses from the public thus far have been amazing.

As its launch pad in Bristol, the poetry is being displayed throughout Clifton Down Shopping Centre with a selection of poems for everyone to read and enjoy. For those who want to explore James’ poetry further, details will be available with the displays.
